As for the NEWS I referred to in the subject line, I've been informed by my rep that due to the rising prices of everything from food to gas as so on, Ty is actually going to reduce his prices on several lines. It's his hope that the retailers will in turn pass the savings on to their customers. I know I will but I'm sure there are some out that that will be happier to make a few extra bucks.

Q: Do you think there will ever be a Beanie postage stamp?

A: How about a Speedy stamp to help the mail get there faster or Lucky so your letter won't get lost?

I'm familiar with Wonder Pets as I've been recording DVDs of the various cartoon shows for my grandkids the past couple of years. Wonder Pets are 3 pets from a school room who fly away (when nobody is there) to rescue various animals in trouble. Each half hour show has two stories, each entitled "Save the .....!" Tomorrow's episodes are: "Save the Ladybug!" and "Save the Sea Turtle." Each episode ends with the three coming back to the schoolhouse, getting back into their cages & resuming their roles of school pets. Tune in to Nickelodeon.

After much thought, I have decided to suspend further updates to the Bean Watcher site.    

At the beginning of the year, I had great hopes for Ty's new line of plush toys.  But instead of generating more excitement, it is apparent that interest in beanies has waned.  Collecting Ty beanies, for this long-time collector, simply is not the same.  The fun, excitement, and magic of years gone by are just fond memories.   

I won't call this announcement a "retirement" since it sounds so final.  And I won't say "good-bye" since Ty, Inc. may become "collector - friendly" once again.  Who knows, I may decide to re-appear in the months ahead. There are interesting new styles waiting to be introduced and I may want to share the news when the time is right.   

So for now, I'll just say, "See you later..."  The first few lines of a popular song by the late Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, "Happy Trails," appropriately express my sentiments:    

Happy trails to you, until we meet again. 

Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then. 

Who cares about the clouds when we're together? 

Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather. 

Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again.   

Thank you for the times we shared together.  I hope that you'll always find the beanies you want, now and in the future.

Linda from Scotland, who works at the Nessie Shop, shares the news that the Ty Classic version of Ness-e is available.  Two versions exist (both are officially identified as UK exclusives).  One version comes with the store's logo.  The other comes without the logo.   Linda shares the cost to ship the plush toy to the USA (slightly edited):   

The shipping will be about the same as for 1 beanie - it is when there are more Classics that it hard to work out the price...  Two Classics cost 10 pounds to post.  So I estimate the price for the USA will be one Classic -  7 pounds, 2 Classics - 10 pounds, and then I will quote by weight.

• The General Store is now open in BB2.0 Land!

The General Store is now open! You can trade all of the items in your back pack (now called the Bean Bag) and receive beans in exchange. These beans can then be used to purchase different food items.

Also, gardens have been added to the Beanie homes. You can use the beans in your bag to plant them and use the watering can to grow them.

And yes, this is the mysterious watering can that people didn't know what to do with.

Collecting the Sports Commemorative beanies has been fun, and the hunt is still on for me until I get the last 6 I’m missing.

They will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Some I have multiples of and some only 1 extra.  All come with their authentic Commemorative Card, and the majority with the ticket stub from the game, and some with pins. I also have a few  Official Publications from the teams.  

I thought I would let those I know about these first, before putting them on ebay.

Jeff and Stacy from Michigan sent a question about the retirement dates of three Walgreens exclusive Beanie Babies.  They write:    

We noticed that "Chocolate Kiss, Cookies & Crème, and Morsel" are now listed as retired!  I was wondering if you could ask if anyone new the retirement date?    

Bean Watcher comment:  Thank you for your inquiry.  According to the good folks at Ty,Inc., Chocolate Kiss, Cookies and Creme, and Morsel all retired silently on May 30, 2008. 

Q: Is there any chance you would buy the naming rights to Wrigley Field, home of the Cubbies? If so, what would you name it?

• Bean Watcher receives a report of a rare Life-Size Ty Bopper!

Ian from the UK shares news of an eBay (UK) auction that features a rare life-size Ty Beanie Bopper. According to the closed auction (Item number: 360051548692), the plush toy:   

... is life-sized, the size of an 8 year old child and was made as a display promo to launch the Ty Boppers range at the Harrods store in London, although she does not have a Ty tag.    

We have been told that only 2 of these were made, this girl and another, a boy. They were both donated by the Ty Company to a raffle in aid of the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. The raffle took place on 10 November 2006 at the Millennium Hotel, in Knightsbridge, London and she was won by the daughter of one of our branch's members, who has kindly donated her to us.

• Snootz has been updated again on Ty.com! After he talks, there is a new segment called the Beanie Land News (BLN)! This seems to be using our original idea of the Beanie News at 7! Ty really is using the new video feature to the extreme! It should be fun to see what he does in the coming days!

Despite Big Brown's poor performance in the Belmont Stakes, it is interesting to note that the last two winners of the Kentucky Derby have been immortalized as Beanie Babies.  Here are their names:

• Bean Watcher receives news of a Beanie Babies 2.0 Birth Certificate!

Sakurako from Japan, webmaster of Bottega Beanies, shares pictures of Pops the Father's Day gorilla and his accompanying birth certificate.  She writes (edited):   

I put my secret code for Pops the Father's Day Gorilla and I received a nice birth certificate that was signed by Snootz!  I printed the certificate....  Maybe other BB 2.0 beanies will have birth certificates, but I have not yet heard of it.
